Wine and Health Monitoring
The National Observatory on the responsible consumption of wine, born in 2007, continues to operate from the Castle of Grinzane Cavour to communicate and to disseminate the health properties of wine, knowing that the quality should be associated with a conscious consumer who not only can appreciate a good glass, but is informed and documented the beneficial effects to the body of moderate consumption.
This is a project that starts from Piedmont, in a territory, the Langhe and Roero, always careful to communicate the culture of wine and drinking well and aims to operate in national institutions with the intent to aggregate the sector in Italy. The initiative is promoted by the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour, by the Consorzio Tutela Barolo, Barbaresco, Alba, Langhe and Roero, by the Tourist Langhe Monferrato Roero, Ente Turismo Alba Bra Langhe and Roero Go Wine Association.
The main objective of the Centre is pursuing the promotion of proper communication of consumer awareness of the health properties of wine. To achieve this, you must start and disseminate scientific research, epidemiological, biological and clinical knowledge to implement an active ingredient.
"Wine and Health" also aims to counter any illogical equation of wine to hard liquor or drugs.
Through its work, it will protect and enhance the work of many winemakers and wineries engaged in a constant quest for quality.?The President of the Centre has been entrusted to Sen. Tomaso Zanoletti, president of the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour, former president of the National Committee of the City of wine and for the protection and enhancement of protected designations of origin for wines. Within the Centre was set up a Steering Committee, coordinated by a member selected from the trade associations of wine producers and prof. Attilio Giacosa, Department of Gastroenterology, Policlinico di Monza, and a researcher at the National Institute for Cancer Research of Genoa. Involved are also experts in the field of food science, enology, legislation, communication, food.
The Centre has developed an intense activity in the domestic, which aims to raise awareness of its character and to involve partners in the various Italian regions.
In particular he promoted the publication of the book "The truth about the wine. As for when the wine is good", edited by Attilio Giacosa and Mariangela Rondanelli, available in bookstores throughout Italy.
Among the accessions, as founding members of Wine and Health, it includes the presence of Federdoc.
The 2010 season opened with the International Scientific Workshop entitled "The truth about the wine. As for when the wine is good" which brought together distinguished academics and European American, called to discuss on wine and health. The meeting resulted in a document, the Charter of Grinzane containing the conclusions acquired and future prospects for research signed by all participants.
